About 3rd Skipton Scouts

Our Story
3rd Skipton Scout Group proudly relaunched in 2021, emerging from the pandemic with just 4 Cubs and an enthusiastic spirit. Today, we are thriving with four vibrant sections: Squirrels (ages 4–6), Beavers (ages 6–8), Cubs (ages 8–10.5), and Scouts (ages 10.5–14).
Our leadership team is mostly new to Scouting, bringing fresh ideas, energy, and dedication. With the exception of one experienced leader, every member of our team has joined in the last few years. Together, we are focused on creating meaningful, fun, and truly memorable experiences for every young person in our care.
Alongside classic Scouting activities such as camping, hiking, and fundraising, we are deeply committed to making a positive impact in our local community. Our young people take part in much-loved events including Skipton Gala, Sheep Day, the Santa Fun Run, Grassington Christmas Markets, and Pride in the Dales. We maintain the Broughton Road community allotment, organise the annual District Carol Service at Holy Trinity Church, and play a key role in the Remembrance Parade and St George’s Day Parade, which we help arrange in rotation. Our Scouts also compete enthusiastically in the District Swimming Gala and Football Tournament.
Whenever possible, we encourage our members to join District and County events, such as the County Jamboree (Larkin) and Junior Warrior, often at special discounted rates for our group. At 3rd Skipton, our mission is simple: to equip young people with skills for life, spark unforgettable adventures, and support our local community every step of the way.
